About My Education & Training

I feel very fortunate to have had fantastic educational and training experiences, having been trained by the very best in my field. I have been licensed to practice for over 15 years and graduated at the top of my graduate school class, while also completing my Clinical Internship at Columbia University, where I'm an Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology. I furthered my training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), the evidence-based and highly effective  form of CBT, in my studies at the esteemed Albert Ellis Institute in New York. To better understand and treat the wide variety of issues related to relationships, partnering and sexuality, I sought specialized post-graduate training at the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists and am a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. To treat patients with Psychosomatic Symptoms, I completed the Masters Class training programs taught by the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association (TMS/PPDA). I also hold degrees in Biology and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and an additional Masters Degree in Education from NYU.

I have extensive experience treating patients with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, headaches and psychosomatic pain and work-related performance anxiety, working with the most wonderful patients, many of whom are New York's top executives in the fields of finance, tech, medicine and law. I work with individuals and couples in both traditional and alternative relationships and my work is confidential and without discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or any other factor.

Teaching Experience: I am honored to be an adjunct Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at Columbia University and am also an Assistant Professor at the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists, where my class is called "Clinical Treatments of Male Sexual Dysfunctions." I also supervise budding therapists new to our field. Previously, I enjoyed working as a licensed public school teacher for five years when I was in my twenties, preparing me greatly for my current role when I work with families with children.

I remain very active in the therapy community and greatly enjoy contributing to books, articles, radio programs, and blogs including OPRAH, The New York Times, Fatherly, The Huffington Post, PLAYBOY Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, Vice Magazine, Shape Magazine, BestLife, Bustle, Greatist, The Daily Beast, Insider, Daily Dot, She's Single Magazine, askmen, school, Salon, THE LIST, PureWow, Cosmopolitan, Wealthy Single Mommy, Hello Giggles, Forbes, Bored Panda, Fatherly, healthywomen, among many others.

My personalized approach places high value on the therapeutic relationship and is tailored to patients' individual needs and my practice is a great source of pride for me.
